Meal Prep for the 7pm Breakfast Club: Shift Worker Food Logistics
Shift-worker nutrition advice usually translates day-eating rules at night workers and calls it done — but the 7pm breakfast club needs its own logistics: meals anchored to THE SHIFT, not the clock, and a fridge staged like a relay station. Here is the system.

The Anchor-Meal Frame
Rename by function: the pre-shift meal is breakfast (substantial, protein-forward, eaten before clock-in regardless of sunset), the mid-shift meal is lunch (packed, real, eaten at the break), the post-shift meal is a light dinner (small — the sleep ahead wants digestion mostly done). The clock lies; the shift structure doesn’t.
The 3am Strategy
The circadian low around 3-4am arrives with cravings the vending machine exploits — pack the counter-offer: protein snacks staged (Greek yogurt, nuts, jerky), the fruit that beats the candy at the same sweetness, and the deliberate small warm thing (soup thermos — 3am morale infrastructure).

The Caffeine Cutoff, Inverted
The shift version of the afternoon rule: caffeine front-loaded in the shift’s first half, hard cutoff 5-6 hours before intended sleep — the 5am coffee is the day-sleep assassin. The end-of-shift wall gets movement and light snacks instead; the bed after handoff gets its fair chance.
The Staged Fridge
Prep runs on shift-relay logic: grab-bins by shift phase (pre-shift meals shelf, packed-lunch shelf, post-shift lights), doubled batches on off-days, and the household treaty (the day-eaters do not raid the shift shelf — labeled, sacred, enforced). The system survives rotations because it points at the shift, not the sun.
Breakfast at sunset, lunch at midnight, dinner before the blackout curtains. The clock was never the boss — the shift was, and the fridge now reports to it directly.
